Resistance welding is a process that utilizes the heat generated by the contact resistance when current passes through the workpiece and welds under the action of external pressure. The electrode used to hold the workpiece to be welded, conduct the required current and transmit external pressure is called a resistance welding electrode. Tungsten-copper resistance welding electrodes have good electrical conductivity, high high-temperature hardness and strength, and will not undergo chemical reactions or adhesion with the welded material.
Tungsten-copper alloy combines the advantages of tungsten and copper, with high temperature resistance, resistance to arc erosion, high strength, high specific gravity, good electrical and thermal conductivity, easy to machine, and has the characteristics of evaporation cooling. Due to its high hardness, high melting point and anti-adhesion properties of tungsten, it is often used to make convex welding and butt welding electrodes with certain wear resistance and high-temperature resistance.
MD Tungsten & Molybdenum Company supplies tungsten copper composites from 50W-50Cu to 90W-10Cu, by using isostatic pressing, high-temperature sintering and copper infiltration process. We can produce semi-finished forms like plate, sheet, rod, bar, tube, as well as complicated custom-shaped forms by die molding, extrusion or injection molding, in large or very small sizes.

Copper tungsten (CuW, WCu) has been recognized as a highly conductive and erasion resistant composite material that is extensively used as copper tungsten electrodes in EDM machining and resistance welding applications, electrical contacts in high voltage applications, and heat sinks and other electronic packaging materials in thermal applications.
The most common tungsten/copper ratios are WCu 70/30, WCu 75/25, and WCu 80/20. Other common compositions include tungsten/copper 50/50, 60/40, and 90/10. The range of available compositions is from Cu 50 wt.% to Cu 90 wt.%. Our tungsten copper product range includes copper tungsten rod, foil, sheet, plate, tube, tungsten copper rod, and machined parts
